Every once in a while I come across something on ebay that is just to good to be true, and when I do I jump on it. I recently got a copy of "With Hammer in Hand" by Charles F. Hummel, this book is quit possible one of the best historical accurate and important woodworking books ever written. It is completely out of print and if you try to look for it you would be lucky to find it for $100, most of the time the price is around $200 or $250.
So, when I saw this copy on ebay for $50 . Well, as you can see I bought it.
I hope to write many blog posts about this book as I read through its 400+ pages. It is also a full size book at 8 1/2 by 12 (pages are like 8 1/2 by 11). The condition of this book is excellent. The dusk cover is a little miffed on the edges, but the book is from 1968, so some wear is expected. However, with that said, the inside looks like it was never read. I found a book mark 50 pages in and that was it.
So, though in part I am writing this blog post to say that I will be doing some interesting reading followed by some good blog posts. I also am writing this blog post to say, hey, ebay isn't all that bad. You just have to be patient and keep an eye out for the jewels that others don't even know they have.
Well, actually, I am writing this blog post just to gloat over my recent purchase. :)
