So, it has finally come time for me to build the most important thing in my workshop. A new workbench. The main reason for the workbench build stems from my use of handtools and my inability to use them to their full potential on my current underdeveloped workbench. I have decided to build a Nicholson style workbench. Though this workbench will actually have a tail vise on it, which is not normal for this particular style workbench. I am planning on having a nice big apron on the front for the holdfasts and a large twin-screw vise on the front. The twin-screw vise will have just over 24” between the screws with and overall length of about 3 feet. On the back of the bench I will be building a tool rack that will hold my chisels, saws, and other small tools during use.
I can’t wait to get the bench built so I can start using it.
Over the next few weeks I will be adding more videos to the site as the workbench build continues. And though I am starting this workbench with a plan, the plans have changed a little as time has gone by. But, you will have to stay tuned for the changes in the upcoming videos.
Hope you enjoy the video.
